in the 2000s till 2015 i was a volunteer at the local heritage steam railway.
As the steam railway played host to 1000's of visiting children every year ( familes, school parties, special events including santa claus ), all members of staff had to undergo a police check (DBS) as we were in close proximity to children. We were specifically instructed NOT to touch the children.
I often wondered what would happen in such an emergency as post # 1

and the child's parent? All too often i see young mothers engrossed in their phone conversation oblivious to what their kids up to. The sperm donor is long gone.

surely one of the reasons for joining the EU in the first place--was to allow limitless cheap labour into the UK--thus keeping wages for the working masses low. Since leaving--wages have rapidly gone up. Whether thats a good thing--or not--is beyond me.

try telling that to scotland's tourists and many island communities: the ferry services are dying month by month, and the two new overdue & over-budget ferries justify a serious legal/criminal enquiry.. any bunch of incompetents who can't provide a small country with a ferry service and a legally binding contract to build 2 new boats - having controlled scotland since 2007 - has no credibility in claiming they could run a country!.
i think if there is another vote on the subject of Scottish independence--then the whole of the UK should be included in the vote.

I approve of vaping. It means i can see cloud of breath emitted from the lungs of user--so i can avoid it.
not being raised as a jw, i went to many church weddings, mostly in catholic churches.
all the times i went to jw weddings i thought it unusual that they had their own vows, much different from the wedding vows used elsewhere.
i remembered jws mentioning "divine temination" of marriages to me and thought the vows reflected that thought.
i once attended a JW wedding in my home congregation ( my dad wasnt there ). The authorised person wanted to see the -licence-? banns or whatever--?--but the couple had forgotten to do all that pre-nuptial formality. So the actual " tying the knot" couldnt proceed. But they went ahead with the rest of the speech--and we all attended the wedding reception--but the bride and groom each returned to their respective parents homes afterwards. The got a special licence and finalised their marriage a few days later.
I dont know if they stayed together.

Back in the day--my old dad was an Authorised Person-- to officiate at ( JW ) weddings. ( In the UK ).
Over the years he attended numerous weddings in the West Midlands--and he was a stickler for the official vow words had to be used.
He told me that At one wedding--the person conducting the ceremony decided to use his own words--and my dad stopped him and insisted he use the exact words in the script. I dont think he was too popular after that.
He told me the reason he was strict about it was in case of any future marriage bust up--the use of unauthorised vow words could result in the marriage being declared nul and void.
